At GrowingLeadership, we are introducing a new series of frameworks. A framework is a set of ideas that conceptually hold together. Some will be more cognitive in nature. For example, we will be talking about three levels of leadership: Visionary, Strategic, and Tactical. Others will be more practical. The framework of Getting Things Done (GTD) developed by David Allen includes a number of very practical topics from file folders to label makers to software execution.
Some of these frameworks will be largely original material developed by our GrowingLeadership team. Other will be summarized and/or adapted from others. For example, John Kotter’s framework around leading change is not only a classic, it is immensely useful.
At the end of the day, our goal is to build your capacities at all levels so that you can successfully engage the complex world around you. For example, understanding a traditional framework of statistics (mean, median, standard deviation, variability, and distribution) has daily applications to your life and leadership. We want to find the balance between taking full advantage of your cognitive horsepower while keeping things applicable to your daily life and leadership.
Lastly, we will be making use of blog categories. At any time, you can click on the category Frameworks and it will take you to our growing catalog of frameworks. This will help our clients and coaches to make reference to many of these important concepts.
